Eighth Grade Memories

Over the summer before entering eighth grade, I had lots of fun. I participated in Relay for Life. My mother, my sister, my aunt, and I raised over $3,000 for the American Cancer Society, and we walked many miles. Our team camped out at the event. The day after the relay, we went on a trip to Universal Studios with my family. We got to take a tram ride around the studios and see where television shows and movies were filmed. It was lots of fun learning how movies were made. My sister and I went on a lot of rides at Universal Studios. We went on the Jurasic Park, Jaws, and the Curse of the Mummy rides. We stayed at a hotel that had a big pool, and we got to go swimming every day. I also went on a week long trip with my dad and cousin to Spicer Lake to go trout fishing. I caught about ten to fifteen fish each day. A lot of them were small, and so I put them back in the lake. I had a lot of fun spending time with my cousin. I also went to a weeklong football camp at St Francis High School, and I played fall ball out in Watsonville. Before school started, I went with the rest of the class to our back to school party. It was a lot of fun. The first sport I played during school was flag football. Although the season was short, it was lots of fun being with friends at practices and games. I also played basketball this year. Although I sat on the bench a lot, it was still fun because I would talk and laugh with my friend who also sat on the bench. Currently I am playing pony league baseball. I am on the Giants. Right now we have six wins and five losses. Another memory of eighth grade is of the dances. The best was the graduation dance. These dances were lots of fun, but the music that was played was not that good. As much as I’m going to miss my classmates, I am very happy to be graduating and to be going on summer break. This summer I plan on doing many things, not just sleeping in every day. I am going to take a one week class at Cabrillo College, and take golf lessons. I also plan on doing lots of fishing. Another thing I want to do is to take our boat to a lake to do some waterskiing and wakeboarding.

Today is May 23rd, one day before graduation. I am very excited to be graduating and moving on to high school. With tomorrow being graduation, I am very happy to be able to sleep in every day and relax. I am also happy to hear that most of my friends are going to the same high school as I am.
